Chrestores & Praxes

Chrestor

A Chrestor is a 'useful person'. In Zartianism a Chrestor can also be known as 'a saviour'.

A Chrestor is someone who consciously strives to do good, to help other people as individuals in need and to support the good functioning of the collective life of a society.

A Chrestor seeks to develop and improve themselves so that they can be more useful to others and to the whole. Three things, at least, they need to develop in themselves are: Eunoia (Good Thinking), Euthymia (Good Spiritedness) and Magtas (Mightiness or Capability).

Praxes

Praxes are practices that Zartian Mithraism promotes. Not all Mithraists need do everything, rather a person should pick one or two that match their inclinations and natural abilities.

The list here is not fixed but we currently list:

Dramatism - Communal performance of dramatic rituals.

Chrestism - Becoming Good. Becoming a Chrestor.
Magtism - Becoming mighty, becoming capable.
Gnosticism - Developing deep knowledge.
Psychosophism - Sophistication of the soul.

Sodalism - the setting up and running of Mithraic societies.
Sociopaganism - the setting up or support of 'autonomous communities for living'.
Politism - (developing the ability to) set up and run a 'polity' or political state.
